Marketa Vondrousova recently grabbed attention from fans due to her new hairstyle. Vondrousova, who has been out of action since July 2024, was pictured attending an ATP Challenger Tour match. What caught everybody's eye was the Czech's 'cornrows' hairstyle.
The Wimbledon 2023 champion explained the rationale behind sporting a 'cornrows' hairstyle on her Instagram story. She wrote:
"Maybe it's cuz I had a surgery and can't do my hair. Leave people alone."
Fans on X (formerly Twitter) voiced their opinions about the former World No. 6's new hairstyle. One fan dug out an old picture of her sporting braids and wrote:
"Her hands appear to be fully functional here"
Another joked that her first-round loss against Jessica Bouzas Maneiro at Wimbledon 2024 was 'deserved'.
"Marketa…. Girl maybe that first round loss is deserved because what’s this honey?"
"I just don’t understand white people who do this. You look ridiculous," another fan chimed in.
"Marketa wants to be a wigga and that’s…not okay but it is what it is. Let’s not," joked yet another fan.
"When she’s done with these braids, her a** will learn," a fan said.
Another fan shared Serena Williams' hairstyle and said that the Czech should have taken inspiration from the American.
"See this is what Marketa easily could’ve did and we wouldn’t have batted an eye"
"It's a disaster if it doesn't suit her. xd but if she likes it, then okay.. xd," another opined.
