What is the Grand Prix Hassan II in Marrakech?
The Grand Prix Hassan II gives players a grand opportunity to make the transition from hardcourt to clay and hone their skills on the surface ahead of the French Open.
Having started off as an ATP Challenger event in 1984, it was promoted to the ATP tour in 1990. Africa's only ATP stop had its first home in Casablanca, following which it shifted to Marrakech in 2016. The tournament is funded by Morocco's King Mohammed VI.
The Grand Prix Hassan II wasn't held for two years from 2020-21 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Four-time Grand Slam quarterfinalist David Goffin won the most recent edition of the event last year.
Thomas Muster, Stan Wawrinka and Juan Carlos Ferrero are some of the notable names who have lifted the trophy in the past.
Venue
The Grand Prix Hassan II will be held at the Royal Tennis Club de Marrakech in Marrakech, Morocco.
