Ukrainian tennis star Marta Kostyuk's offseason took a dramatic twist when she fell victim to a robbery. During her Milan trip with her husband George Kyzymenko, Kostyuk discovered her car had been broken into.
Kostyuk recently wrapped up her 2024 season after a third-round exit at the Wuhan Open. The Ukrainian tennis star cruised past Elina Avanesyan and Amanda Anisimova to reach the Round of 16, where she lost 6-4, 6-1 to fourth seed Coco Gauff. As she began her offseason, Kostyuk unwinded by enjoying some leisure time in Italy.
Unfortunately, her trip took a disheartening turn when Kostyuk found the rear window of her Porsche SUV shattered one night.
On November 29, Kostyuk took to social media to share her ordeal, posting a picture of the damaged car window, which had been temporarily covered with tape. Kostyuk wrote on her Instagram story,
"Expensive trip to Milano. Whoever did this- God bless you. Truly,"
While the value of the stolen items is unknown, Kostyuk's resilience showed as she shared a video pointing out that the culprits had left her sporting equipment untouched in the trunk. With a touch of levity, the Ukrainian tennis star wrote,
"Clearly they are not into sports 😂"
