Martina Navratilova was shocked by the reported sexual abuse and violence towards women by transgender inmates in prison. While the accuracy of the report is questionable, Navratilova opined "it is vile", if true.
On Saturday, December 14, an X user claimed that women in prisons are being 'raped' within prison cells by transgender inmates. According to the user, babies have been birthed as a result of sexual exploitation and 'sold to foster care'. The user proceeded to lambast the Democrats over her unsubstantiated claim and suggested that women should not be supportive of this.
Former World No. 1 and 18-time singles Grand Slam champion Martina Navratilova, who is firmly opposed to biological women and transgender women sharing spaces earmarked for the former, reacted to the post. Navratilova stated that the majority of women don't lend their support to such developments.
"I would say almost all women do not support this either. It is vile," Navratilova wrote.
The Czech-American tennis legend has been quite vocal recently regarding the raging debate surrounding transgender women's access to biological women's spaces. The debate stemmed from Republican US Representative Nancy Mace proposing to prohibit such access spanning all federal office buildings in the country.
In another recent instance, Navratilova reiterated her stance on the subject after taking notice of a video that showed a trans male nonchalantly posing in front of a mirror inside a women's restroom.
Martina Navratilova urges introduction of sweeping law to prevent transgender women from entering biological women's spaces
A video featuring a trans man striking poses in front of a mirror in a women's restroom recently caught Martina Navratilova's eye. In the video, the trans man could be seen carrying on with her posing even in the presence of multiple biological women who had entered the restroom to relieve themselves.
Navratilova reacted to the video on X, with the Czech-American's reaction being a combination of sarcasm and seriousness. The former World No. 1 mocked the trans man and also called for a law to be introduced that would permanently prohibit the entry of trans individuals into biological women's spaces.
"And he thinks he looks good too. No males in female spaces, please!!! This must be a law everywhere," Navratilova wrote.
Time and again, the 18-time singles Major winner has suggested that trans individuals accessing biological women's spaces pose a threat to the latter's dignity, privacy, and safety. Navratilova recently chided President-elect Donald Trump over his reluctance to discuss the issue.
