Martina Navratilova applauds Emmy winner Liza Colon-Zayas as she urges fellow Latinas to vote in upcoming US presidential election

Martina Navratilova recently lauded Emmy award winner Liza Colon-Zayas for urging Latinas to exercise their voting rights in the upcoming US presidential election. Colon-Zayas won the prestigious award for her role in the series 'The Bear'. She is the first Latina to bag the Emmy Award for Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series.

Colon-Zayas, in her acceptance speech, thanked a host of people such as her husband, David Zayas, her mother, Meryl Streep, Carol Burnett, Janelle James, Sheryl Lee Ralph, and Hannah Einbinder. She ended her speech with a powerful message to her fellow Latinas.

"And all the Latinas who are looking at me, Keep believing, and vote. Vote for your rights," Liza Colon-Zayas said, while accepting the Emmy award.

This message caught Martina Navratilova's eye, who reacted to it with clap emojis:

" 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼."

The US presidential election is just 50 days away, with voting scheduled for November 5. The race for the White House is between Democrats candidate and current Vice President Kamala Harris and Republican candidate and former President Donald Trump.

Harris was declared the Democratic presidential pick after the incumbent president Joe Biden decided to drop out of the race. Trump and Harris locked horns in their first debate on September 10. Many celebrities have picked their sides, with tennis greats such as Martina Navratilova, Andy Roddick, and Pam Shriver also sharing their opinions regarding the elections.

Martina Navratilova has taken many jibes at former president Donald Trump over the years. Recently, she took a dig at Trump as pop icon Taylor Swift backed Kamala Harris for the upcoming election.

"I will be casting my vote for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the 2024 Presidential Election. I’m voting for @kamalaharris because she fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them. I think she is a steady-handed, gifted leader and I believe we can accomplish so much more in this country if we are led by calm and not chaos," Swift wrote.

Navratilova reacted to the endorsement and wrote:

"Yippee:), Taylor just made Donold’s awful night even worse:)"

Navratilova, the 18-time Grand Slam champion, has been sharing her thoughts on the upcoming US Presidential election on her X account. Recently, she also reacted as Trump reportedly turned down a second debate against Harris.
