Martina Navratilova was impressed by Cincinnati Bengals superstar Ja'Marr Chase creating history in the NFL. The 24-year-old has been impressive since he began his journey in the league with the Bengals in 2021.
Chase had a slow start to the season with no touchdowns in the opening two matches of the campaign. However, he found his best form immediately and was constantly scoring touchdowns match after match. The young American scored a career-best 17 touchdowns and also covered an impressive 1,708 yards in the 2024-25 season.
Ja'Marr Chase became the first player to achieve this feat in the league. After he scored his 17th touchdown against the Pittsburgh Steelers in their final game of the regular season, ESPN's page on X celebrated the milestone by dubbing the wide receiver 'HIM'.
"Ja’Marr Chase is HIM. The only player EVER with 1,700 yards and 17 TDs in a single season."
This huge accomplishment was applauded by many in the sporting fraternity, including tennis legend Martina Navratilova.
"👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼," she tweeted.
Despite Chase's best efforts, the $4.1 billion Cincinnati Bengals (as per Forbes), failed to clinch a spot in the NFL playoffs. They finished third in the AFC North behind the Baltimore Ravens and the Pittsburgh Steelers, with an underwhelming nine wins and eight defeats. Interestingly, they ended their campaign with an impressive five-match win streak, which wasn't enough.
Martina Navratilova ponders over possible cover-up in ex-NFL star and US Army soldier Pat Tillman's death
A popular page on X, Fascinating, recently chronicled the tale of former Arizona Cardinals star and US Army soldier Pat Tillman, who turned down a $3.6 million contract to join the military. He died in Afghanistan while on duty.
"After 9/11, Pat Tillman left behind a successful football career to join the U.S. Army. In 2004, it was initially reported that he was killed by the Taliban, a story shared with his family and the public."
"Tillman had declined a $3.6 million contract with the Cardinals to enlist in May 2002. Reports claimed he heroically saved many soldiers in Afghanistan before being killed by enemy forces, leading to widespread media praise and honors, including calls for posthumous military awards."
Interestingly, the Army later revealed that Tillman was killed by friendly fire and his death was described as an accident. However, the page questioned what provoked the American soldiers to shoot in the first place.
"However, about a month after his death, the Army revealed that Tillman had actually been killed by friendly fire. His last words, attempting to identify himself to his comrades, were in vain."
"Despite being described as an accident, doubts arose due to the circumstances of his death: Tillman was shot three times in the head from close range without any evidence of enemy combatants nearby, contradicting initial accounts of the incident. This raised questions about what exactly happened and why American soldiers were firing in the first place."
Martina Navratilova also pondered over the above theory.
“Wow…another coverup and why?”
