Martina Navratilova recently commended Democratic politician Veronica Escobar for her decision to not attend Donald Trump's inauguration. Escobar has chosen not to attend the event due to the United States Capitol attack that occurred three years ago.

Following Trump's defeat in the 2020 election, his supporters launched a violent attack on the United States Capitol Building in Washington, D.C on January 6, 2021. The rioters breached the Capitol in an attempt to overturn the election results and prevent the formalization of Joe Biden's victory and in turn jeopardized the peaceful transfer of power in the country.

It was reported that more than 2,000 individuals infiltrated the Capitol during the attack and put the lives of many politicians who were present in the building at the time at risk.

Recently, it was reported that Escobar will skip Donald Trump's inauguration as the 47th president of the United States. The ceremony will take place on January 20, 2025, at the West Front of the United States Capitol in Washington, D.C.

“NEW: Rep. Veronica Escobar (D-TX) announces she will not be attending the Trump Inauguration, saying: "I was trapped in the gallery on Jan. 6, that's why,"" the post read.

18-time Grand Slam champion, Martina Navratilova, took to social media to praise Veronica Escobar's stance against attending Trump's inauguration in January.

“👏🏼 👏🏼 👏🏼 👏🏼 👏🏼 ," Martina Navratilova posted on X.

Veronica Escobar was among the Democrats who joined a lawsuit against Trump and his attorney, Rudy Giuliani, for their alleged involvement in inciting the Capitol attack alongside right-wing extremists.

Martina Navratilova previously voiced her disapproval of Donald Trump's decision to appoint billionaires in key positions within his government. Trump had announced that Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla Motors, and Vivek Ramaswamy will lead the Department of Government Efficiency.

This controversial move by the entrepreneur sparked a backlash from his supporters, who targeted the employees in question.

In light of this, the former World No.1 took to social media and called Elon Musk a "toxic man."

“Who is going to stop this toxic man?" Navratilova posted on X.

In addition to Musk, Navratilova also expressed concerns about billionaire Stephen Feinberg, co-founder and CEO of Cerberus Capital Management, potentially being considered for the role of Deputy Defense Secretary at the Pentagon.

“Jesus. The grift is going to be massive," Navratilova posted.

Martina Navratilova is known for her dislike of Donald Trump and the Republican party. She frequently takes to social media to voice her criticisms.
