Martina Navratilova calls Donald Trump a 'lying liar' as President-elect goes back on his promise of bringing inflation down

Martina Navratilova is widely regarded as one of the best tennis players of all time. Recently, the American made her opinion known about President-elect Donald Trump going back on his claims of bringing inflation down.

Navratilova has been outspoken about her political opinions since retirement, and has often criticized Trump and the Republican party. In an interview recently, Trump expressed that it was difficult to bring down the price of things once they're up.

An account on X shared the President-elect's quotes, writing,

“Trump tells Time he's not sure he can get the price of groceries down: 'It's hard to bring things down once they're up. You know, it's very hard."

To this, Martina Navratilova responded by saying:

“So can’t fix inflation? Didn’t he say many times I alone can fix it? Or I will fix it? Lying liar and the lies he lies about.”

In his Republican nomination acceptance speech in July 2024, Donald Trump had previously claimed that ‘inflation would vanish’ if he became President, saying,

“Under my plan, incomes will skyrocket, inflation will vanish completely, jobs will come roaring back, and the middle class will prosper like never before.”

Martina Navratilova labels Donald Trump a ‘wannabe fascist’

Martina Navratilova has been a consistent critic of Donald Trump and his policies. On October 27, 2024, the President had hosted a campaign rally at the Madison Square Garden in New York City. The rally came under fire as many accused the speakers’ remarks as racist and misogynistic.

Navratilova joined the conversation to share her opinion about the rally, labeling Trump as a ‘wannabe fascist.'

Here's what she said:

“After the abominable trump rally which was a carbon copy of the Nazi rally there in 1939 I think?-I truly cannot even think of being friends with anyone who would vote for the wannabe fascist named donald trump. Don’t even bother trying to make excuses for him.”

Navratilova has previously labeled Trump a ‘psychopath’. In September of this year, an X user wrote on the platform,

“Trump on theft: If you had one really violent day.. .. … One rough hour. And I mean real rough. The word will get out and it will end immediately.”

To this, Navratilova responded by writing:

“As I have said many times before- trump is a psychopath by proxy. What a sick sick man.”

On the tennis courts, Martina Navratilova had a phenomenal career. She rose to fame in the 1980’s, winning a total of 18 major singles titles. She also won a total of 42 Grand Slam doubles titles, and was ranked No.1 in the world for 332 weeks in the singles discipline.
