Martina Navratilova has dubbed Donald Trump a "moron" after his comments on the H1B visas. The job situation in America seems to be in a precarious position with H1B visas being the center of attention
Trump, who had earlier argued that he was against the H1B program in 2016 and was slated to solve the issue, allegedly made a U-turn and said he would allow skilled people to enter the country in heavy numbers since America was about to see a job boom. Asked by a reporter, "Why did you change your mind on H1B visas?" he said:
"I didn’t change my mind. I always felt we have to have the most competent people in our country. We need competent people. We need smart people coming into our country. We need a lot of people coming in. We’re going to have jobs like we’ve never had before."
Navratilova, a staunch critic of Trump, tweeted in response:
"What a moron. Everything is Like we never had before… sure…"
With Trump set to become the next president of the USA on January 20, many believed that he would be the key to solving the issues with immigration policies. However, some people felt that Elon Musk, a huge supporter of Trump during his presidential campaign, would significantly affect the future president's decisions.
Martina Navratilova questions Donald Trump's wife Melania's "extraordinary abilities" which allegedly helped her get the EB-1 Visa
When Donald Trump chose Indian-born Sriram Krishnan as his senior policy advisor for Artificial Intelligence, Trump's anti-immigration supporters were baffled by the future president allegedly going back on his word. Amid this, American journalist James Surowiecki mentioned the journey of Slovenia-born Melania Trump to gain American citizenship:
"One funny aspect of the skilled immigration dust-up is that Melania Trump was only able to live and work in the US because she got H1-B visas. She then got a green card by somehow qualifying for an EB-1 visa, which is reserved for individuals with 'extraordinary ability.'"
An X user questioned the "extraordinary abilities" Melania supposedly possessed:
"I wonder what her extraordinary abilities were or are?"
Martina Navratilova replied to the tweet seconding the user's doubt:
"Me too…"
Navratilova was born in Czechoslovakia but was stripped of her citizenship when she sought political asylum in America in 1975. She later received American citizenship in 1981 and reacquired Czech citizenship in 2008.
