Martina Navratilova didn't hold back while reacting to Donald Trump's wife Melania and Jeff Bezos collaborating on a documentary. She called them both "shameless" while criticizing the nature of their deal.
Bezos' Amazon has reportedly struck a $40M deal for a documentary about Melania Trump, directed by Brett Ratner. The project aims to provide a behind-the-scenes look at her life and time as First Lady. Filming began in late 2024, following Donald Trump’s re-election.
The deal has raised eyebrows due to Bezos' (who is worth $254B according to Celebrity Net Worth) previous tensions with Trump, but recent gestures—like a $1M donation to Trump’s inauguration fund—suggest a shift. Ratner’s involvement is also notable, as this marks his return to Hollywood after years away.
One X (formerly Twitter) account shared insider details from The Wall Street Journal about the deal, writing:
"Melania pitched her documentary idea to Bezos over dinner at Mar-a-Lago. Amazon agreed to pay $40M—with more than 70% going to her. And her agent has been trying to sell "sponsorships" for the film—starting at $10M—to CEOs at the inauguration. Buyers would get thanked in the credits and be invited to the premiere."
Navratilova reposted the tweet and added in the caption:
"Beyond grifting- this a whole new level of corruption #shameless."
The documentary is expected to release in late 2025, both theatrically and on Amazon Prime Video.
Martina Navratilova does not see a future career in politics

Martina Navratilova has never shied away from expressing her opinions, especially after retiring from tennis, whether on politics or her opposition to transgender athletes in women's sports. However, she, surprisingly, ruled out a future in politics.
During her appearance on the On with Kara Swisher podcast in December 2023, Navratilova admitted that politics wouldn't suit her as she speaks her mind too much. However, she added that if she were 20 years younger, she might have considered it.
"I am. I’ve been asked many times. But I think truth doesn’t work in politics you know I speak my mind way too much. I think maybe as a guy you can get away with it but as a woman, I just don’t know," she said.
The 18-time Major champion added:
"I think I am too old for that. 20 years ago, I wish I…, if I was 20 years younger, I would run. But I don’t have the energy for it now, and the skin. Really, it’s just too nasty."
