Martina Navratilova has questioned the legitimacy of Donald Trump's victory over Kamala Harris in the 2024 US presidential election. The former World No. 1 voiced her doubts in response to Trump outlining his plans "to straighten out the press" with legal action.
In the wake of prominent news organization ABC agreeing to pay Donald Trump $15 million to settle a defamation lawsuit, the President-elect has threatened the media with more legal action.
At a recent press conference in Florida, the 78-year-old shed light on his intention to sue the Des Moines Register over its polling of Iowa in the 2024 US presidential election. The poll had predicted a win for Kamala Harris, despite Trump eventually securing the key state with a 13-point margin.
As his comments circulated on social media, Martina Navratilova lambasted Donald Trump for being a "sore winner." The former World No. 1, a vocal critic of the President-elect, also expressed skepticism about the Republican winning the 2024 election fairly, suggesting that his victory was "too perfect" to be believable.
"He is not just a sore loser, he is a sore winner too. Though I am not convinced he truly won the election- it was all too perfect…," she posted on X.
The 18-time Grand Slam champion previously lashed out at ABC for choosing to settle the defamation lawsuit with Trump by awarding him a massive payout.
"Cowards," Navratilova wrote.
Martina Navratilova: "Donald Trump still keeps lying about 2020 election knowing full well he lost"
Despite Martina Navratilova's bold claim about the legitimacy of Donald Trump's 2024 US presidential election, she has not taken kindly to the Republican leader making similar comments about his loss to Joe Biden in the 2020 election.
Trump recently suggested that he inherited the "mess" left behind by Barack Obama in his first presidential term from 2016 to 2020.
"I took over the mess that Barack Hussein Obama, who is a big divider.. I've always treated his wife with respect… she came at me the other day. That is not nice of her to do. And I think we are going to start having a little fun with Michelle," Trump said.
However, Navratilova refuted Donald Trump's assertion, arguing that he took over a "great economy" from Obama. She also accused him of perpetuating lies about the 2020 election despite having lost fairly.
"The orange man inherited a great economy from Obama. And he still keeps lying about 2020 election knowing full well he lost….," Navratilova posted.
Martina Navratilova recently also criticized Donald Trump for reneging on his word to lower grocery prices in the United States, labeling him a "liar, bully, and braggart."
