Martina Navratilova criticized President-elect Donald Trump for marketing his merchandise ahead of his second term in office. The American tennis legend dismissed the defense of his refusal to earn a salary by highlighting his "billions on the side."
Trump has built a vast array of merchandise sold through the Trump Store online. The collection includes everything from keychains and clothing to MAGA hats and various accessories. In a move that raised eyebrows, the 78-year-old even offers customized guitars and Bibles.
Recently, Trump promoted his custom guitars on Truth Social, a social media platform. An X account shared the promotion, criticizing the President-elect for peddling "merch—guitars, branded Bibles, shoes and more."
"When he turns Greenland into Trumpland, can you imagine the new line of offerings?" they added.
Martina Navratilova, a long-time critic of Trump, joined the conversation by sharing the post and adding her thoughts:
"Wow… and his voters cheer this on. And the grift keeps getting bigger and bigger…"
However, the conversation took another turn when a Trump supporter defended him, pointing out his refusal to accept the $400,000 presidential salary during his previous term. Navratilova was quick to retort:
"Why take 400.000 when you make billions on the side??? Are you serious?"
Martina Navratilova slams President-elect Donald Trump’s administration for planning to withdraw US from WHO
Donald Trump’s incoming administration is preparing to withdraw the United States from the World Health Organization (WHO) on the first day of his presidency, according to reports from the Financial Times.
Trump’s transition team has emphasized their intent to announce the withdrawal on January 20, a move experts warn could have devastating consequences for global health.
The WHO relies on the US as its largest single donor. Lawrence Gostin, a professor of global health at Georgetown Law, described the move as "catastrophic," emphasizing its potential to hinder the organization’s ability to address public health crises.
Martina Navratilova, a vocal critic of Trump, has been particularly outspoken about his cabinet choices. She has consistently warned of the long-term damage such decisions could inflict. Reacting to the news of Trump's administration's reported plans, the 18-time Grand Slam champion wrote:
"What an a**… it just keeps getting worse…"
Trump won the election which was held on November 5, 2024, against Democratic nominee Kamala Harris and other candidates. He will take oath as the 47th President of the USA along with JD Vance as the 50th Vice-President.
