Martina Navratilova recently affirmed the accuracy of former US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's past statements on militant group Hamas, amid the Israel-Palestine war conflict.
Earlier this month, Hamas launched an attack on nearby Israeli towns from the blocked Gaza Strip, resulting in the loss of nearly 1,400 Israeli lives. In response, Israel declared war against Hamas and initiated a series of airstrikes in the Gaza strip, which claimed the lives of 2,750 Palestinians.
Amid this escalating conflict, Hillary Clinton's past remarks on the Hamas and Palestine situation from a 2016 Democratic primary debate resurfaced on social media.
In an exchange with fellow nominee Bernie Sanders, Clinton, who negotiated the cease-fire between Israel and Hamas in November 2012, made note of Hamas' takeover of Gaza after Israel's retreat from the area.
She pointed out that instead of becoming a land of prosperity for the Palestinian people, the area had become a base for terrorists due to Iran and other territories supplying weapons to Hamas.
"Remember Israel left Gaza. They took out all the Israelis. They turned the keys over to the Palestinian people and what happened? Hamas took over Gaza. So instead of having a thriving economy with the kind of opportunities that the children of the Palestinians deserve, we have a terrorist haven that is getting more and more rockets shipped in from Iran and elsewhere," she said.
As the clip made the rounds on social media, a user on X, formerly Twitter, asserted that Hillary Clinton had been right about everything.
"Hillary was right. About everything. Literally f**king everything," the user posted.
Martina Navratilova, who has been outspoken about her views on the Israel-Palestine conflict, agreed with the user's assessment.
"Every effing thing!!!" Navratilova commented.
Martina Navratilova condemns Fox journalist for anti-Palestine tirade
Amid the Israel-Palestine war, Fox News journalist Jesse Watters expressed skepticism about the idea of establishing an Palestinian state and stated that President Joe Biden should refrain from discussing this possibility.
"I don’t think we can have a Palestinian state at this point. I’ve had it with the Palestinians. I’ve given up on Palestinians. If I was in Israel, I wouldn’t be talking about a Palestinian state. I don’t think Joe Biden should be talking about a Palestinian state right now," he said.
He also said that he could not see any distinction between Palestinian civilians and members of Hamas.
"I don’t like how people try to differentiate between the Palestinians and Hamas. To me, I see people with guns… that’s Hamas, the people without the guns are the Palestinians. They believe in the same thing. The Palestinians hire Hamas to run the government," Watters added.
In a now deleted post, Martina Navratilova condemned Watters' views, comparing his statements to the dehumanizing rhetoric used by Adolf Hitler and the Nazis.
"Right out of the Hitler playbook- step 1- dehumanize this particular group of people. Do enough of that and you can do anything with/to that group," Martina Navratilova wrote on X (formerly Twitter).
