Martina Navratilova reacted to President-elect Donald Trump's nomination of Kash Patel as the FBI director. During Trump’s first term as President, Kash Patel served in several high-ranking positions, including on the National Security Council.

Navratilova has been vocal in her opposition to the Republican's policies and ideals on social media in recent months. The tennis legend supported Democratic candidate Kamala Harris during the 2024 Presidential Election and expressed disappointment following Trump’s victory.

Recent reports about Trump considering Kash Patel, a staunch ally from his first term, for a major government position have now been confirmed. Trump announced that Patel would be his nominee for FBI Director. In a statement shared on Truth Social on Saturday evening, Trump praised Patel, saying:

"Kash is a brilliant lawyer, investigator, and ‘America First’ fighter who has spent his career exposing corruption, defending Justice, and protecting the American People. He played a pivotal role in uncovering the Russia, Russia, Russia Hoax, standing as an advocate for truth, accountability, and the Constitution."

A video aired by MSNBC was reshared by an X (formerly Twitter) user, highlighting Patel’s remarks. In the video, Patel emphasized that the focus would be on individuals who, according to him, lied about American citizens and allegedly assisted Joe Biden in manipulating presidential elections.

The X user criticized Trump’s decision, describing it as part of a strategy to select nominees who align with his "authoritarian quest." The post referred to Patel as a "conspiracy theorist" and called him a "nightmare."

Navratilova reshared the post and wrote:

"Jesus…"

Martina Navratilova took to X to send a message to US citizens when it became clear that Donald Trump was set to become President for a second time, earlier this month.

Navratilova wrote,

"Well, Trump won. Fear and anger won. And a country that was born as a racist patriarchy proved beyond any reasonable doubt it still is a racist patriarchy. Not sure when this ceases to be true,"

The 2024 U.S. presidential election determined the nation’s 47th president. Late on election night, results began to roll in for what was anticipated to be one of the most closely contested and significant elections in American history. It is now confirmed that Trump, who previously served as the 45th president from 2016 to 2020, has secured a second term.

With key victories in swing states such as Pennsylvania, North Carolina, and Georgia, Trump’s win makes his running mate, J.D. Vance, the 50th Vice President of the United States. Trump and Vance will officially take office in January 2025.
