Tennis icon Martina Navratilova once again made waves with her pointed commentary on the political landscape in the United States. Reacting to a report highlighting the growing number of Americans enrolling in the Affordable Care Act (ACA), also known as Obamacare, the 18-time Grand Slam singles champion dropped a two-word reaction.
The ACA was introduced by President Barack Obama in 2010 with the aim of making healthcare more accessible and affordable for millions of Americans, particularly those that came from low-income households.
A recent Reuters report, shared on social media, detailed the potential impact of proposed budget cuts by President-elect Trump. Tasked with finding deep cuts to the $6.2 trillion federal budget, Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy face the challenge of reducing spending without causing widespread disruption.
The report emphasized that any substantial cuts would likely affect benefit programs, which constitute nearly two-thirds of federal spending. Navratilova, a vocal critic of Trump, reshared the report on December 25, 2024, via X (formerly Twitter), adding her pointed commentary.
"Go figure," Navratilova wrote.
Martina Navratilova criticizes President-elect Donald Trump over his alleged plans to control TikTok
Martina Navratilova criticized President-elect Donald Trump for allegedly seeking control over the short-form video platform TikTok following his meeting with the platform's CEO, Shou Zi Chew at the Mar-a-Lago resort.
Navratilova pointed out Trump’s previous efforts to ban the app in the United States and suggested that the President-elect now aims to capitalize on its influence among young Americans.
Last week, CNN anchor Kaitlan Collins revealed in a post on X (formerly Twitter) that Trump had met with the TikTok CEO at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach, Florida.
"News — Trump is meeting with TikTok CEO Shou Chew at his Mar-a-Lago Club today, I'm told. That comes hours after the president-elect suggested he might reverse course on the impending ban on the app in the US, as TikTok is now asking the Supreme Court to step in," Collins wrote.
The 18-time Grand Slam singles champion responded to the report with her commentary.
"Of course he is. Wants to control that site too since so many young people get their news there. Does the (sic) wanted to ban it, now he wants to control it," Navratilova wrote.
Martina Navratilova recently spoke out against President-elect Donald Trump’s administration’s proposed decision to withdraw the United States from the World Health Organization.
