Martina Navratilova reacted to Qatar Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani's claims that there was an alleged delay in the Israel-Hamas ceasefire deal. Qatar’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson announced that the ceasefire deal between the parties will come into effect on Sunday, January 19.

In an exclusive interview with Sky News, Qatar’s PM emphasized Qatar's role as a key mediator in the prolonged conflict between Israel and Hamas, which has spanned over 15 months. He underscored the necessity of addressing the core issue of the conflict—establishing a Palestinian state—stating that peace would remain unattainable without this resolution.

Critiquing the negotiators leading up to the agreement, the Prime Minister expressed frustration at the alleged delays. He stated:

"Basically 13-months of a waste of negotiating the details that has no meaning and is not worth a single life that we lost in Gaza or a single life of the hostages lost because of the bombing."

The Qatar PM's comments on the alleged delay were posted on X. American tennis legend, Martina Navratilova called out Israel Prime Minister Benjamin 'Bibi' Netanyahu and commented:

"Wow… hello Bibi???"

Sheikh Mohammed described the recently reached ceasefire deal as Gaza’s final opportunity to escape the devastating effects of the ongoing war, stressing its critical importance for the region's future.

When asked about the potential fallout if the ceasefire deal were to collapse, Sheikh Mohammed firmly stated that failure was not an option.

"Failure is not an option. That's what all of us should aspire to... If it fails we will not give up we will make sure it is rehashed again and the parties are adhering to that," he said.

In December, an X account announced an "Israeli air strike" on a designated safe zone. They shared that among the 25 people killed, there was an entire family.

Reacting to the news, Martina Navratilova, who regularly does political commentary on social media, wrote:

"This is so wrong, criminal in fact. How are these strikes not war crimes???"

Another X user commented on her post:

"We used to like you. Not anymore. You should have stuck to commentating on tennis and not politics."

The 18-time Grand Slam champion responded:

"I am gutted."

Notably, Qatar’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson announced that the Gaza ceasefire between Israel and Hamas will take effect at 8:30 am (06:30 GMT) on Sunday, urging caution and adherence to official updates.
