Tennis legend Martina Navratilova has shared her reaction to a video featuring controversial social media personality Andrew Tate. Navratilova, known for her advocacy of women's rights, reshared a video montage of Tate's previous clips and called him "toxic."
Andrew Tate, a British-American social media influencer and former professional kickboxer, has faced mounting legal and public scrutiny over allegations of human trafficking, rape, and tax evasion. His lifestyle and business ventures, often showcased online, have been criticized for promoting harmful gender stereotypes and exploitative behaviors.
In December 2022, Tate, his brother Tristan, and two Romanian women were arrested in Romania on charges including human trafficking, rape, and forming an organized criminal group. They are accused of recruiting and exploiting women by coercing them into creating explicit content for online platforms. All parties have denied the allegations.
In January 2025, the Romanian court lifted Tate's house arrest, replacing it with judicial control. This allowed him some freedom of movement within Romania under conditions like regular check-ins with law enforcement. However, Tate still faces the possibility of extradition to the United Kingdom for additional charges, including tax evasion and rape.
On January 13, 2025, an X (formerly Twitter) user shared a six-minute compilation of Tate’s clips describing his "pimp game," a term he used to explain his approach to exploiting women for financial gain. The montage juxtaposed Tate's statements with descriptions of known trafficking methods, such as the "lover boy method" and "CEO pimping," highlighting how his actions aligned with tactics used by human traffickers.
In the clips, Tate openly detailed strategies for manipulating women into obedience, claiming he used sex as a tool to gain their trust and make them work for him.
"My approach to women has always been about getting money from them," he admitted in one clip.
Martina Navratilova reshared the video, calling out Tate’s behavior, writing:
"That’s one toxic man…"
