Martina Navratilova has shared her thoughts on President-elect Donald Trump reportedly moving to privatize the United States Postal Service. Trump, who will assume office on January 20, 2025, is eyeing a significant shakeup to the agency that was formed in 1971.
According to reports from the Washington Post, Trump disclosed his intention to overhaul the Postal Service during a meeting with Howard Lutnick, his nominee for commerce secretary, at his Mar-a-Lago estate.
Although the proposed move could disrupt shipping services, impact supply chains, and potentially result in hundreds of thousands of federal workers losing their jobs, the President-elect argued against subsidizing the agency amid its financial losses, with three people reportedly knowing of his plans.
Martina Navratilova, a staunch critic of Donald Trump and his policies, reacted to the report on social media and expressed alarm over the potential move.
"Jesus...," she Navratilova posted on X.
Despite her opposition to Trump's potential shakeup, Navratilova herself recently criticized the running of the United States Postal Service. She took aim at President Joe Biden for allowing Louis DeJoy to remain as the Postmaster General despite the dissatisfaction over significant postal delays under his administration.
However, the former World No. 1 was informed that Biden had no authority to remove the Postmaster General, as that power was reserved for the USPS Board of Governors.
Martina Navratilova slams Donald Trump as a "lying liar' after President-elect reneges on his promise to bring inflation down
Martina Navratilova recently lambasted Donald Trump after he reneged on his promise to bring inflation down. Although the President-elect had confidently asserted that "incomes will skyrocket, inflation will vanish completely, and jobs will come roaring back" during his presidential campaign, he has since admitted that it was "very hard" to lower grocery prices.
"Look, they got them up. I’d like to bring them down. It’s hard to bring things down once they’re up. You know, it’s very hard," Trump told Time magazine.
The former World No. 1 reacted to Trump's comments on social media, denouncing him as a "lying liar" for going back on his words after making bold claims about fixing the economy.
"So can’t fix inflation? Didn’t he say many times I alone can fix it? Or I will fix it? Lying liar and the lies he lies about," she posted.
Martina Navratilova also asserted that Donald Trump's statement on the high grocery prices was "utterly idiotic," calling the President-elect a "liar, bully, and braggart."
