Martina Navratilova endorses Hollywood legend Barbra Streisand ‘applauding’ Taylor Swift backing Kamala Harris in US Presidential election

Martina Navratilova recently endorsed Hollywood legend Barbra Streisand for backing Taylor Swift's endorsement of Democratic candidate Kamala Harris for the upcoming US Presidential election, scheduled for November 5, 2024.

Recently, Hollywood legend Barbra Streisand lauded Taylor Swift for endorsing Kamala Harris and Tim Walz for the upcoming US Presidential election. After the presidential debate between Harris and Trump on September 10, the pop icon took to Instagram to back Democratic candidate Harris and her vice-president pick Walz.

Swift wrote:

"I will be casting my vote for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the 2024 Presidential Election. I’m voting for @kamalaharris because she fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them. I think she is a steady-handed, gifted leader and I believe we can accomplish so much more in this country if we are led by calm and not chaos. I was so heartened and impressed by her selection of running mate @timwalz, who has been standing up for LGBTQ+ rights, IVF, and a woman’s right to her own body for decades."

Streisand 'applauded' the singer-songwriter for her statement. She recalled her Harvard commencement speech and Daniel Patrick Moynihan's statements to drive her point home about having political opinions. The Hollywood legend wrote:

"I applaud @taylorswift13 and her statement endorsing Kamala Harris. As I said in my Harvard speech years ago, "I am, first and foremost, a citizen: a tax-paying, voting, concerned American citizen who happens to have opinions." As the late Daniel Patrick Moynihan said, 'Everyone's entitled to their own opinions, but not their own facts.’"

Martina Navratilova endorsed Streisand's remarks as she reposted the abovementioned post.

Martina Navratilova on Taylor Swift endorsing Kamala Harris: "Made Donald Trump’s awful night even worse"

Martina Navratilova took a jibe at former US President Donald Trump after Taylor Swift publicly announced her support for Kamala Harris for the upcoming US Presidential election.

Many news outlets claimed Harris to be the winner of the debate ahead of Trump. Navratilova took to X and poked fun at the former US President, claiming Swift made his night 'worse'.

"Yippee:), Taylor just made Donold’s awful night even worse:)," Navratilova wrote.

Navratilova also poked fun at Trump for not agreeing to a second debate against Harris. The US Vice-President is keen to stage a second Presidential debate, arguing that they 'owed it to the voters to have another debate'. The former World No. 1 reacted to this news by sharing chicken emojis, seemingly implying that Trump was scared of facing Harris in another debate.
