Martina Navratilova made her feelings known again about US President-elect Donald Trump's nomination of his former aide Kash Patel as Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) director.

Trump has been nominating candidates for various administration roles to back him in his second term in office. He recently picked Patel, a former US defense department chief of staff in the 78-year-old's first presidential term, to lead the FBI.

Reflecting on his nomination, Trump stated that Patel was a "brilliant lawyer" who "defended justice" and spent his career safeguarding the people of America.

"Kash is a brilliant lawyer, investigator and 'America first' fighter who has spent his career exposing corruption, defending justice, and protecting the American people," Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social.

The nomination did not sit well with a lot of people. A user online labeled Patel "unqualified". They recalled William Barr, former US attorney general, once expressing reluctance with Trump making Patel even the Deputy attorney general.

"Patel is SO UNQUALIFIED that when Trump floated making him Deputy AG, BILL BARR said “over my dead body.” Now Trump is making him FBI DIRECTOR (our nation’s largest federal intelligence/crime fighting agency). A man who can’t pass an FBI background check WILL LEAD THE AGENCY," the user wrote.

Navratilova, who had previously reacted to Trump's nomination, expressed disbelief and reacted to the user's statement in one word, saying:

"Unreal...," Navratilova's post read.

Apart from Patel, Trump nominated Pam Bondi as attorney general. He also suggested plans to nominate Chad Christoner as the head of the Drug Enforcement Agency.

However, Trump needs the majority of the vote in the US Senate for his candidates to get appointed.

Martina Navratilova criticized Donald Trump's Thanksgiving message, labeling it "divisive nonsense."

Trump took to X on Thanksgiving day, November 28, to slam his political rivals, calling them "radical left lunatics". He opined that the opposition "miserably failed" during their term, so much so that the nation decided to give a "landslide victory" to his party.

"Happy Thanksgiving to all, including to the Radical Left Lunatics who have worked so hard to destroy our Country, but who have miserably failed, and will always fail, because their ideas and policies are so hopelessly bad that the great people of our Nation just gave a landslide victory to those who want to MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN," Donald Trump's post read.

Navratilova responded furiously, referring to Trump as an "embarrassment to the whole world." The 18-time Grand Slam champion maintained that the country would improve only if Trump had left the picture.

"Really hard to explain this divisive nonsense. You are an embarrassment to the whole world. America is great now though could be better, and will be great and keep trying to be better long after you are gone," Navratilova replied.

Martina Navratilova is a strong critic of the Donald Trump-led Republican government. She voiced her concerns against Trump's controversial proposal of new tariff rates.
