Martina Navratilova and her wife, Julia Lemigova, welcomed two young boys into their family in August 2024, expanding their family after nearly ten years of marriage.

Navratilova, who came out as bisexual and lesbian in 1981, first met Lemigova in Paris in 2000. They reconnected eight years later, leading to Navratilova’s proposal in 2014, followed by their marriage later that year. In 2021, they made history as the first same-sex couple featured on "The Real Housewives of Miami."

Though the couple had been planning to adopt for some time, their plans were delayed after Navratilova received a second cancer diagnosis in early 2023. On the question of parenthood, Navratilova had said last year (via "On with Kara Swisher"),

"Well, our girls, we have an empty nest just recently. So, you know, I was busy raising a family. Now, I'm not really sure. Again, with the cancer bout, you know, I really want to guard my time and try to figure out where best to put my energies. Tweeting is not it. I don't know. But neither is golfing. Well, Julia wouldn't mind having another kid. But I don't know. We'll see what happens on that front."

This adoption marks Martina Navratilova’s first experience with parenthood, while Lemigova has two daughters from previous relationships. As they adjust to their new family dynamic, the couple has requested privacy from the media.
