Martina Navratilova delivered a one-word reaction to Donald Trump seemingly doubting wife Melania's vote. Navratilova is among the fiercest Trump critics in the tennis world, but she found comic relief in Trump appearing suspicious about his wife's vote.
The 2024 US presidential nominees seem neck-and-neck as voting goes ahead on Election Day. Both Donald Trump and Kamala Harris have gone all out in recent days in their respective final bids to influence swing voters. They have also launched controversial verbal attacks on each other, with former President Trump especially coming under scrutiny for his choice of words to describe Harris and other Democrats.
As Donald Trump cast his vote on, he was accompanied by Melania. As the latter was casting her vote, the Republican candidate, seeking a second term, appeared to look at who his wife was voting for. This moment was broadcast on media and a photograph of the moment soon made its way to X (formerly Twitter).
Former World No. 1 and 18-time singles Major title winner Martina Navratilova shared the image, and wrote,
"Lol!"
In related news, Navratilova also made her feelings known about Trump claiming that he would make ex-NFL star Herschel Walker the head of a planned missile defense shield project.
Martina Navratilova slams Donald Trump over plan to make Herschel Walker "head of missile defense shield"
At a recent Republican rally in Georgia, Donald Trump claimed that he would execute a plan to build a nationwide missile defense shield system in the US, similar to Israel's "Iron Dome" system. It would be able to detect potential aerial attacks on American soil and neutralize them in advance.
Speaking in a Georgia rally, Trump said that he would make former NFL running back, and Georgia resident, Herschel Walker the head of the project. Walker was the Republican nominee for the 2022 US Senate elections in the state. He also served as co-chair of the President's Council on Sports, Fitness, and Nutrition under Trump, from 2019 to 2020.
Trump said,
"We will build a missile defense shield, all made in the USA—wrapped around our country to defend ourselves and our country. It’s all gonna be made in the United States, and a lot of it in your great state. We’ll put Herschel Walker in charge of that little sucker."
Martina Navratilova was not impressed by Trump's claim and wrote on X,
"Omg. How delusional can one truly be?"
Navratilova had previously criticized a recent Republican gathering at Madison Square Garden, which generated significant controversy after speakers, including Trump himself, used distasteful remarks to attack the Democrats along with immigrants into the US.
