Tennis legend Martina Navratilova rebuked billionaire hedge fund manager Bill Ackman after he praised President Donald Trump's actions during his first week back in office. Navratilova expressed sharp disapproval of Ackman’s comparison of Trump’s governance to the biblical act of creation.
Ackman, founder of Pershing Square Capital with a net worth of $9.2 billion (as per Forbes), made waves on January 27, 2025, with an X (formerly Twitter) post that likened Trump’s initial week of executive orders in his second term to the biblical account of creation, where God created the world in six days and rested on the seventh.
In a tongue-in-cheek comment, Ackman highlighted the president’s relentless pace, stating:
"Other than the almighty, who has accomplished more in seven days than @POTUS Trump? To be fair, we have to keep in mind that Trump didn't rest on the seventh day."
This analogy came amid a slew of executive actions Trump signed, including measures to end birthright citizenship, dismantle diversity programs, impose sanctions on Colombia, dismiss Justice Department officials, and withdraw from the World Health Organization (WHO).
Navratilova, a vocal critic of Trump, wasted no time responding to Ackman’s post, questioning the logic and ethics of his statement. She pointed out what she perceived as the destructive nature of Trump’s policies, writing:
"Yup. God created, trump is destroying. Same thing, right Bill???"
Martina Navratilova argues Donald Trump's words in public don't mask his racist beliefs
Martina Navratilova recently shared her thoughts on the newly inaugurated Donald Trump administration. Navratilova referenced a statement made by Gerald A. Griggs, a self-described "distinguished attorney and social advocate" dedicated to fighting for justice in Atlanta and advocating for people's rights, according to his website.
Griggs had taken to X (formerly Twitter) to highlight a new civil rights directive issued by Trump’s Justice Department:
"The Justice Department has instructed its civil rights division to pause all ongoing litigation and refrain from initiating new cases or settlements. The directive, addressed to Kathleen Wolfe, the Trump-appointed supervisor of the division, orders a halt to filing new complaints, motions, amicus briefs, and similar actions."
Responding to this, Navratilova argued that Trump’s actions on racial matters contradict his public rhetoric, writing:
"But no, Trump is not racist at all...look at what he does, not what he says."
In other news, Martina Navratilova expressed concern over the US political landscape as Donald Trump achieved crypto billionaire status.
