Martina Navratilova slams 'brainwashed' Donald Trump supporters after 'delusional' comment on January 6 Capitol riots

Martina Navratilova recently slammed Donald Trump and his supporters by recalling the January 6 Capitol riot incident. The former tennis player is also known for voicing her opinions on several sensitive matters.

January 6, 2021, is one of the days that is still remembered by all Americans, as several rioters broke through the barricades and devastated the US Capitol intending to stop the certification of Joe Biden's election. This rioting mob consisted primarily of Donald Trump's supporters who took over the Capitol, and multiple videos of this incident are still making the rounds over the internet. The current president-elect was held accountable for the havoc that ensued as a result.

Recalling this incident, one of the citizens of America shared a video of this riot and wrote on X:

"I'm going to post this video every day so we never forget."

Commenting on this, one of the Trump supporters blamed it on the police rather than the rioters and wrote:

"The riot was started by the Capitol police when they repeatedly fired tear gas into a peaceful crowd. They kept doing that, with nowhere for the crowd to go, with planted feds urging the crowd to push forward."

Disgusted with this reply, Martina Navratilova took a hit at the supporter and tweeted:

"This is how brainwashed many Trump voters are😳😳😳 "

She also called the Trump supporters 'delusional' and wrote:

"Oh and are they the protesting my statement of fact…it’s called believe what I say and not your own eyes. Delusional…"

Navratilova has been openly critical of Donald Trump and his policies and has never shied away from voicing her opinions. Similarly, she took to social media to give her two cents after the latter won the presidential elections this year.

The 2024 presidential election was held on November 5, and Donald Trump won the election with 312 votes against Kamala Harris, taking the power in his hands for the second time. Martina Navratilova, who has always been vocal about her dislike for the 78-year-old, took to her X account and opened up about her opinions on his triumph.

She emphasized sensitive points like racism, fear, anger, and more, and stated that all these points have won with the victory of Donald Trump.

"Well, Trump won. Fear and anger won. And a country that was born as a racist patriarchy proved beyond any reasonable doubt it still is a racist patriarchy. Not sure when this ceases to be true," Martina Navratilova wrote.

Donald Trump is scheduled to start his tenure as the president in January 2025. Along with Martina Navratilova, another tennis prodigy, Andy Roddick also once took a hit at the 78-year-old.
