Martina Navratilova springs to Joe Biden's defense as fake news about US President taking a swipe at Clarence Thomas spreads fast

Martina Navratilova defended Joe Biden over an unsubstantiated claim that stated the President had taken a swipe at Clarence Thomas, the Associate Judge of the Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS). According to the claim, Biden's swipe revolved around Thomas being in his position for 33 years and counting.

Navratilova, a former World No. 1 in women's singles and doubles, frequently voices her honest political opinions. Even though the 18-time singles Major winner is firmly against Donald Trump and the Republicans, she isn't a blind follower of the Democrats. The Czech-American has also questioned outgoing President Joe Biden's decisions in the past.

However, Martina Navratilova recently came to Joe Biden's defense after she took notice of a post on X that claimed that the President had accused Clarence Thomas of being the Associate Judge of the SCOTUS for too long. An X user later shared the fake news with the caption:

"Hypocrisy at its finest!"

Navratilova replied to the user, writing:

"Biden was elected and re- elected many times. Thomas once. For ever. Try again"

The user responded to the Czech-American later, to which Navratilova has not yet replied.

"I think the difference here is Judge Thomas can still hold a meaningful conversation, where Biden would forget where he is or just fall asleep. Nice try!" the user fired back at Navratilova.

Earlier in December, the former World No. 1 had criticized Donald Trump in the aftermath of Joe Biden controversially pardoning his son Hunter.

President Joe Biden's son Hunter was convicted in June over presenting falsehoods during his purchase of a gun. He was also facing tax evasion charges and looking at a lengthy prison sentence. Biden himself had previously maintained that Hunter would not be pardoned. However, the President's stance changed following Donald Trump's victory in the 2024 elections, and he issued an official statement confirming the same.

Later, a CNN reporter, a close ally of Biden, had claimed that the President ultimately decided to pardon Hunter because of certain appointments made by Trump. Martina Navratilova agreed with this take and expressed her opinion on the subject via an X post.

"Exactly. The field of play completely changed this summer. Trump made it clear all bets were off," Navratilova wrote.

Martina Navratilova, a fierce Donald Trump critic, was devastated after the former President came out on top against Kamala Harris in the 2024 elections and became the President-elect. The Czech-American herself had endorsed Harris for President.
