Tennis legend Martina Navratilova has voiced her frustration with what she perceives as lenient judicial decisions toward sexual offenders. Navratilova's recent comments drew attention to the ongoing struggle for justice in cases involving child sexual abuse.

Navratilova's outburst was triggered by a case from 2021 involving Nadeem Ashraf, a 55-year-old supermarket boss from York, London. Ashraf was found guilty of distributing and receiving images and videos of children as young as two years old being sexually abused via WhatsApp.

Despite the gravity of his actions, Ashraf was spared an extended prison time. Judge Simon Hickey sentenced Ashraf to 20 months in prison but suspended it for 18 months, requiring Ashraf to complete 20 days of rehabilitative activities and 100 hours of unpaid work.

Additionally, Ashraf will be required to register as a sex offender for the next 10 years. The judge denied a request to limit Ashraf's internet use, citing the lack of offenses since 2021 and the controls provided by the sex offenders' register. The judge cited concerns over the impact on Ashraf's employees and family for the lenient sentence.

Navratilova, known for her strong advocacy for women's rights, did not hold back in expressing her disbelief and anger. She reshared a post about the case on X, writing:

"Wtaf??? What is wrong with these a**hole judges protecting these awful men???"

Martina Navratilova voiced her anger over a resurfaced video featuring a Pakistani man justifying his attempt to sexually harass a 14-year-old girl in the UK.

In the clip, the man defends his actions by arguing that marrying a 14-year-old is not illegal in his home country. He further tries to excuse his behavior by claiming he is new to the UK and unfamiliar with its laws.

"I am new to this country, I am not aware of the laws here," the Pakistani national could be heard saying in the video. "In Muslim countries, one can marry 14-year-old girls. There is a country’s law and then there is Sharia which overrides those laws. I follow Sharia law."

The 18-time Grand Slam singles champion expressed her disgust on X, writing:

"Culture my a**. Just because something is cultural doesn’t make it right."

In other news, Martina Navratilova voiced her revulsion after learning about a report involving a nine-year-old girl being coerced into marrying a 55-year-old man in Afghanistan.
