Jack Draper struggled to point out a weakness in Jannik Sinner's game after losing to him in the 2024 US Open semifinals on Friday, September 6. Draper making it to the final four at Flushing Meadows marked his best performance at any Grand Slam tournament to date.
Seeded 25th at the New York Major, Draper kicked off his campaign with his first-round opponent Zhang Zhizhen retiring mid-match due to a left leg injury, with the score at 6-3, 6-0, 4-0 ret. The Brit then defeated Facundo Díaz Acosta 6-4, 6-2, 6-2 and Botic van de Zandschulp 6-3, 6-4, 6-2 in the second and third rounds, respectively.
In the fourth round, the World No. 25 emerged victorious over Tomas Machac with a score of 6-3, 6-1, 6-2 before securing a 6-3, 7-5, 6-2 win over 10th seed Alex de Minaur in the quarterfinals. However, Draper's journey at the US Open ended in the semifinals when top seed Jannik Sinner beat him 7-5, 7-6(3), 6-2.
During the post-match press conference, Jack Draper was asked to identify a weakness in Sinner's game, but he amusingly struggled to do so. Ultimately, he concluded that the World No. 1 does not possess any significant weaknesses.
“Sinner! What's one weakness? He doesn't. He doesn't have many, mate. He does not. One uh, don’t know maybe he's too nice . Maybe he’s too nice. He’s pretty good as well, I’ll tell you that for a fact,” Draper said.
