"Me and Shai go together like this" - Naomi Osaka shows off adorable bracelets engraved with her and daughter's initials

Naomi Osaka recently flaunted a set of charming bracelets engraved with her and her daughter Shai's initials. Osaka and her boyfriend Cordae welcomed their first child, Shai, in July 2023.

Osaka, along with three other Grand Slam champions—Angelique Kerber, Emma Raducanu, and Caroline Wozniacki— was granted wildcards to the main draw for the 2024 Wimbledon Championships.

After missing the entire last season due to her pregnancy and the birth of her daughter, Shai, Osaka has made a comeback to the court this year. She will be making her first appearance at Wimbledon since 2019 when she lost 7-6, 6-2 in the first round to Yulia Putintseva.

To prepare for the grasscourt Grand Slam, Osaka participated in the 2024 Libema Open and the ecotrans Ladies Open. In both the tournaments, the former World No. 1 was granted wildcards to the main draw.

At the Libema Open, Naomi Osaka defeated fourth seed Elise Mertens 6-2, 6-4 in the first round and then overcame Suzan Lamens 6-2, 6-2 in the second. However, her campaign in s-Hertogenbosch ended when she fell to the eventual runner-up Bianca Andreescu 4-6, 6-3, 6-7(3) in the quarterfinals.

Following this, Osaka competed at the WTA 500 grass court tournament in Berlin but suffered an early exit as she lost to sixth seed Qinwen Zheng 4-6, 6-3, 3-6 in the first round.

Recently, while traveling to London for the 2024 Wimbledon Championships, Osaka took to social media to share a heartwarming video of her wearing bracelets, one engraved with her and Shai's initials, and the other with Shai's full name.

"Me and Shai go together like this," Osaka captioned her Instagram story.

Earlier this year, while speaking with Nick Kyrgios on his video podcast series "Good Troubles with Nick Kyrgios," Naomi Osaka discussed how her life has transformed since the birth of her daughter, Shai.

Osaka stated that she feels like she doesn't have any time to waste as she knows that she has Shai waiting for her at home, relying on her care and attention.

"I just feel like I don't have time to waste. I'm trying to be really efficient with everything. When I was younger, I could hit for three hours and waste time in the middle or whatever but now I know that someone's waiting for me at home and I have to take care of her so I just feel like every second counts," Osaka said (at 15:00).

The former World No. 1 also shared that motherhood has deepened her understanding and connection with her own mother, Tamaki. She acknowledged that being a mother is a never-ending responsibility, a role that demands constant dedication and love.

"I talk to my mom a lot and I appreciate her way more now that I’m a mom and I’m going through the feelings that she was going through and feel like a mom’s job is never over," she added.
