Barbora Krejcikova defeated Jasmine Paolini to win her maiden Wimbledon title on July 13. A prediction, made before the tournament began, came true and went viral after the Czech's win, leaving fans shocked.

31st seed Krejcikova started the final on the front foot against the seventh seed Paolini. She broke the Italian early and went on to win the first set 6-2.

Paolini, who was a runner-up at the French Open a month ago, reversed the proceedings and broke Krejcikova early in the second set. The Italian won the second set 6-2.

In the decider, Krejcikova broke first to lead 4-3. The Czech then served for the match at 5-4 and successfully won the game to win her maiden Wimbledon title.

Following her triumph, an X account's 'insane prediction' was revisited by fans. The account predicted that whoever defeats Veronika Kudermetova in the first round at Wimbledon would eventually win the title.

The 2021 French Open champion was drawn against Kudermetova in the first round and she defeated her in three sets. Fans were in shock as many of them reacted to it after Barbora Krejcíkova's historic triumph.

"History was made that day 😭🤭 You’re welcome @BKrejcikova ❤️🏆" one fan wrote.
"Prophecy fulfilled. This is insane... TT hall of fame," another fan wrote.
"The most insane prediction of all time!" a third fan wrote.

Here are some more fan reactions to the viral prediction.

"The real winner of Wimbledon," one fan wrote.
"I think what makes this prediction even funnier is that it was a TUSSLE," another fan wrote indicating the competitiveness of the first-round clash.
"Hall of Fame tweet. Frame this lmao," another fan wrote.

Interestingly, Krejcikova, along with Laura Siegemund, also ousted Kudermetova with partner Chan Hao-ching in the women's doubles events.

Barbora Krejcikova's win over Jasmine Paolini in the Wimbledon final made her the fourth Czech player to lift the Venus Rosewater Dish.

Her former mentor and 1998 champion Jana Novotna, 2011 and 2014 champion Petra Kvitova, and 2023 champion Marketa Vondrousova are the other three Czech women who have won the singles event at the Grasscourt Slam.

With Vondrousova and Krejcikova's back-to-back triumph, it is the first time a nation has produced two different Wimbledon champions consecutively since USA's Venus Williams and Serena Williams won the title in 2008 and 2009, respectively.
