Sebastian Korda credits girlfriend Ivana Nedved for providing a much-needed escape from tennis
Sebastian Korda emphasized the important role his girlfriend, Ivana Nedved, plays in his life in a July interview with the Daily Express.
The American tennis star expressed appreciation for her understanding of the sport and shared how lucky he feels to have her by his side.
"I mean she understands, the best thing is she understands sports which is great," Korda said. "She understands how difficult it is to be a professional athlete and that there’s a lot of sacrifices."
"She’s an amazing partner to have and I’m very lucky to have someone that just understands it and always is trying to be there and just always being there is probably the biggest key," he added.
Korda mentioned that his girlfriend provided him with a sense of relaxation away from tennis and is compassionate toward the challenges he faces as a professional athlete.
"I’m very appreciative whenever she comes and we have a lot of fun together, she takes my mind off of tennis and we have fun and can relax and go sightseeing a little bit and just be normal in a way when you’re outside the tennis courts and it’s massive for any athlete just to take their mind off of things and just be fresh and ready to go whenever you go back out there and practice," he said.
Sebastian Korda's 2024 season ended prematurely as he underwent elbow surgery following his second-round exit at the 2024 US Open. Despite this hurdle, 2024 has been an exceptional year for the American tennis star, clinching singles and doubles titles at the Citi Open in Washington, D.C., and the Madrid Masters (w/ Jordan Thompson), as well as a runner-up finish at 's-Hertogenbosch in the Netherlands.
