Danielle Collins recently joked about a picture of Coco Gauff and LeBron James being the favorite photo of her and Marcos Giron, who could be seen in the background. Giron later chimed in on the joke, saying it was tough being constantly photobombed by his teammates.
Collins and Giron were a part of Team USA's tennis team at the 2024 Paris Olympics. They were joined by Gauff, Jessica Pegula, Emma Navarro, and Desirae Krawczyk on the women's side and Taylor Fritz, Tommy Paul, Christopher Eubanks, Rajeev Ram, and Austina Krajicek on the men's side.
Though they won two medals - silver and bronze, both came in men's doubles and were won by the duo of Ram and Krajicek and the team of Fritz and Paul, meaning the women missed out on medals.
However, they still had something huge to celebrate before their campaign began. Coco Gauff was selected as Team USA's flag bearer alongside basketball legend LeBron James for the opening ceremony. The USA tennis got to spend some time with the NBA legend before the tournament began and managed to click some pictures as well.
Danielle Collins took to Instagram to share a photo of Gauff and James on her story and joked how it was her favorite with Marcos Giron. Collins and Giron could be seen in the background seemingly smiling for the camera.
"My favorite photo of me and @mcosgiron," Collins wrote.
Giron reshared the story and chimed in the joke saying how it was tough for them to be constantly getting photobombed by the two flag bearers.
"@danimalcollins Tough constantly getting photobombed by @cocogauff & @kingjames," Giron joked.
The 30-year-old then reshared her compatriot's response in her story.
A look into Danielle Collins' campaign at the Paris Olympics
Danielle Collins, who is currently competing in the final season of her career, made her Olympic debut in Paris this year.
Collins was seeded eighth in singles and kicked off her campaign with a win against Germany's Laura Siegemund after the German retired in the second set. She then came through in a topsy-turvy three-setter to oust Denmark's Caroline Wozniacki and followed it up with a win against Colombia's Camila Osorio in the same fashion.
The American played Iga Swiatek in the quarterfinals but retired in the deciding set due to an abdominal injury.
Danielle Collins teamed up with Desirae Krawczyk for doubles and the duo ousted Greece's Maria Sakkari and Despina Papaichail in the opening round. However, they fell to the Kichenok sisters - Lyudmyla and Nadiia in the next round, bringing an end to Collins' Olympics.
On the other hand, Marcos Giron, who only participated in singles, was defeated by Felix Auger-Aliassime in the opening round in straight sets.
