Naomi Osaka made her feelings known about her vibrant Nike outfit in the blue background at the ASB Classic, where she returned after three months of a tennis break. Osaka faced off against Lina Glushko in her opening match at the ASB Classic on December 30 and comfortably eased past the Israeli in straight sets.
Taking pride in her success, Osaka shared two mid-action photos from her match on her Instagram handle and wrote:
"First W of the year"
Sharing the post on her story, she felt that her vibrant orange-and-blue tennis outfit complimented the blue court.
"This outfit really pops against the blue," Osaka wrote.
Osaka ended her 2024 season on a premature note due to a back injury. The Japanese recorded a mixed season, making two quarterfinals in Qatar and the Netherlands. Naomi Osaka expresses 'excitement' for the 2025 season, comments on future plans in tennis
Naomi Osaka was on maternity break for 15 months until returning to the court at the 2023 Brisbane International. Despite watching herself go from being unranked to the top 60, Osaka felt the results were not as desired.
Speaking to the media ahead of her opening clash against Lina Glushko, Osaka expressed excitement for the 2025 season and said:
"I think 2024 humbled me, but I also feel like I grew a lot. I worked way harder than I’ve ever worked before. So in that, I guess it was very painful to not get the results I wanted, but I feel like I’m growing and learning and I am really excited for (2025)."
The four-time Grand Slam winner further added that she doesn't want to stick around if results don't come.
"I don’t think I’m the type of player that would hang around," Osaka said. "I have a lot of respect for all the players on tour, but the point of my life that I’m at right now, if I’m not above a certain ranking, I don’t see myself playing for a while."
Osaka became the first Asian player to reach the career-high ranking of World No.1 (January 2019) and the first woman to win back-to-back major singles titles since Serena Williams in 2015.
