Naomi Osaka and Iga Swiatek, two top contenders for the title at the 2025 Australian Open, took to social media on Thursday to share adorable pictures of their coaching units after a training session. Osaka, a two-time Australian Open champion, re-shared coach Patrick Mouratoglou’s hilarious picture taken at the iconic Rod Laver Aren with laughing emojis.
The photo was captioned:
“I still don’t know what happened here”
In the frame, Osaka's new coach Mouratoglou and Argentine tennis player Matias Zukas are flanked by an air-borne Osaka and her manager Alexandria Boston. But what truly completes the frame is Daniel Pohl, her physiotherapist and trainer, doing a full split with a thumbs-up.
The smiles in the photo reflect the mood in the camp as Naomi Osaka, the former World No. 1, looks to bounce back to winning ways. The Japanese tennis star began her 2025 season at the Auckland Open, where she reached the final, but had to withdraw mid-way into the summit clash due to an abdominal strain. This was, in fact, her first final since 2022 and she will look to channel that energy in Melbourne as she looks for a first Grand Slam title in four years.
Not just Naomi Osaka, it's all smiles over at the Iga Swiatek camp too
Iga Swiatek, who’s making a comeback from a one-month suspension after a positive dope test, also took to Instagram to share a smile-laden picture of her coaching unit. Standing beside her in the picture is her new coach Wim Fissette, who has also worked with Naomi Osaka.
Swiatek’s strength and conditioning coach Maciej Ryszczuk, performance psychologist Daria Abramaowicz, and Polish tennis player Kacper Zuk are also in the photo taken at the John Cairn Arena in Melbourne.
Five-time Grand Slam champion Swiatek will look to begin the year’s first Major on a winning note, especially after all that happened last year. She failed a dope test and was handed a one-month ban, which took a massive mental toll on her. In a recent chat with Tennis Insider Club, she spoke about how she struggled through that phase:
“You can be at peace with yourself that you didn't do anything wrong, but no one actually treats you like that. Especially the people that are kind of prosecuting you. Even when you’re telling the truth, you feel like they treat you like a liar.”
Swiatek’s 2025 campaign began at the United Cup, where she lost to Coco Gauff in the final.
