Through a social media post, the retired player has shared his surprise at how the machine failed to realize that one of Garcia's shots had landed outside the court.
Osaka defeated Garcia during the first round of the Australian Open on Monday (Jan. 13). The match went the distance, with Osaka taking the victory in three sets and advancing to the second round. Boris Becker noticed what had occurred during the match between Naomi Osaka and Caroline Garcia thanks to another post by journalist José Morgado. In the video, the ball can be clearly seen bouncing beyond the limits of the court, meaning that Osaka should've been granted the point.

Every single court at the Australian Open uses Hawk-Eye technology to determine if the shots landed correctly. Line judges are no longer required at the event.
