Naomi Osaka's boyfriend, Cordae, gushed over the Japanese player as she shared highlights from her time in New York recently. Osaka and Cordae have been together since 2019, and the duo welcomed their daughter, Shai, in July 2023.
Osaka returned to the Wimbledon Championships after five years this season, but her comeback fell short of expectations. The 26-year-old was eliminated in the second round, losing to America's Emma Navarro 4-6, 1-6.
Ahead of her participation in the 2024 Paris Olympics, Naomi Osaka enjoyed her time in New York and shared glimpses of it in an eight-slide post on Instagram.
"72 hours in NY, whatchu doing?" Osaka wrote in the captions.
The pictures, especially those where Osaka wore a hat, later caught the attention of her boyfriend, renowned rapper Cordae, who shared his reaction in the comments.
"Hat 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥," Cordae wrote.
Cordae sporadically attends Osaka's matches- one notable instance was when the Japanese defeated Victoria Azarenka in the 2020 US Open final to win her third Major title. The rapper also showed his support for Osaka from the player box during her second-round clash against Iga Swiatek in the 2024 French Open.
Naomi Osaka has arrived in Paris for her participation in the 2024 Olympics
Naomi Osaka has arrived in Paris for the forthcoming Olympic games. It was announced earlier in June that the 26-year-old will be participating in the 2024 Paris Olympics. She shared a picture of the Eiffel Tower on Instagram to reveal her arrival in the French capital.
While addressing reporters at the Billie Jean Cup in April, Osaka expressed her desire to represent Japan at the marquee event. The former World No. 1 also hoped to win a medal this time.
“I would love to play. Growing up watching the Olympics on TV, I felt that it was a celebration of sport," Osaka said ( via Japan Times).
“I thought it brought everyone together and just to be able to be an athlete there and interact with other athletes is one of the funniest things that I've ever done. I have high ambitions for myself and I hope that I can do really well and get a medal,” she added.
Naomi Osaka previously competed in the delayed 2020 Tokyo Olympics, where she lit the Cauldron during the opening ceremony, becoming the first tennis player to do so. The four-time Major champion will be joined by Kei Nishikori to represent Japan in the marquee event. Tennis in the Olympics is set to begin on Saturday, July 27.
