Naomi Osaka's boyfriend Cordae shows his support in adorable fashion, encourages the Japanese to clinch gold at Paris Olympics

Naomi Osaka’s boyfriend, Cordae recently showed his support for the Japanese tennis star and encouraged her to win gold as she gears up to compete at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Osaka and Cordae started dating in 2019 and have a daughter named Shai, born in July 2023.

Cordae has been seen at several of Osaka’s matches and has been very active on social media, commenting on and engaging with her posts.

The opening ceremony of the 2024 Paris Olympics will be held on Friday, July 26 with tennis kicking off the following day. In June, the Japanese Tennis Association announced that Naomi Osaka, Kei Nishikori and Moyuka Uchijima will be representing Japan at the Olympic Games.

On Thursday, the four-time Grand Slam winner posted a video on her Instagram account featuring her unpacking her kit for the tournament. Cordae reacted to the post by commenting with seven gold medal emojis.

This is Naomi Osaka’s second appearance at the Olympic Games. She represented Japan in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics where she defeated Zheng Saisai and Viktorija Golubic before being eliminated by Markéta Vondroušová in the third round. At the opening ceremony in Tokyo, Osaka also had the honor of lighting the Olympic cauldron.

Osaka's compatriot, Kei Nishikori will be competing in the fifth Olympic Games of his career. He participated in the 2008 Beijing Olympics, the 2012 London Olympics, the 2016 Rio Olympics - where he defeated Rafael Nadal in the bronze medal match - and the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, where he finished in the quarterfinals. Moyuka Uchijima, on the other hand, will be participating in the Olympic Games for the first time in her career and will face Elina Svitolina in their first-round match.

Osaka returned to the WTA Tour in January 2024 after a 15-month hiatus due to the birth of her daughter, Shai.

Osaka made her return at the 2024 Brisbane International where she faced a second-round exit. Since then, she has competed in thirteen tournaments on the WTA Tour, winning 16 matches in the process.

Osaka’s best record this season came when she reached the quarterfinal of the Qatar Open, where Karolína Plíšková defeated her. She also reached another quarterfinal in June at the Libéma Open where she was eliminated by Bianca Andreescu.

On Saturday, Osaka will kick off her participation at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games when she faces Germany's Angelique Kerber in the first round.
