Sebastian Korda's sister Nelly celebrated the American reaching the final of the 2025 Adelaide International after downing Miomir Kecmanovic in straight sets. Korda has made a statement upon his return to tennis after being out of action due to an elbow issue that required surgery.
The Korda family boasts a legacy of sporting giants. While Petr Korda, his wife Regina Rajchrtova, and their son Sebastian chose to excel in tennis, Petr's daughters Jessica and Nelly have seen tremendous success in golf. The Korda siblings often cheer each other on via social media.
Nelly exuded her excitement to watch her brother reach the final of the Adelaide International by sharing the tournament's post, announcing Sebastian's win, on her Instagram story. Korda defeated Kecmanovic 6-3, 7-6(4).
Jessica also celebrated her brother's triumph via her Instagram story.
Sebastian Korda had recently discussed the impact his family has had on him.
Interestingly, during the pre-tournament press conference, he opened up about his emotions during his injury-prone phase. He underwent surgery after the US Open and had been out of action until his return to Adelaide.
"Definitely pretty pissed off. You try to move on as fast as possible, surround yourself with good people, try to stay positive," he said. But yeah, I guess it's a long process. I guess it's one that every athlete goes through. Yeah, you just try to deal with it the best you can."
This is the 24-year-old's second final in Adelaide with the first one coming in the now-discontinued Adelaide International 1 against Novak Djokovic. The American was defeated by the Serb in a three-set thriller. However, he'll have his chance to conquer Adelaide on Saturday.
Sebastian Korda will face Felix Auger-Aliassime in final of Adelaide International 2025
Sebastian Korda will face fifth seed Felix Auger-Aliassime in the summit clash. The two men have faced off thrice with the Canadian leading their head-to-head 2-1. However, their most recent clash came in the final in Antwerp back in 2022. Since then, both men have seen their fair share of ups and downs.
Korda, seeded second, received a bye in the opening round following which he defeated Alejandro Davidovich Fokina 6-3, 6-3. Thanasi Kokkinakis withdrew from their quarterfinal clash and the American then downed Miomir Kecmanovic to reach the final.
Aliassime also received a bye in the opening round and came back from a set down to oust Arthur Cazaux in the second round. He then defeated Marcos Giron and scored a huge 7-6(3), 3-6, 6-4 win against Tommy Paul to reach the 16th final of his career.
Both players will head to Melbourne after their showpiece clash in Adelaide for the 2025 Australian Open.
