Swiss tennis star Belinda Bencic has revealed her latest travelling companion as she launches her comeback on tour: her 8-month-old newborn baby, Bella. The Tokyo Olympic Gold medallist has shared a short clip with her daughter from the iconic Bondi beach in Sydney, Australia.
The video, shot from the balcony of Bencic's residence in Sydney, begins with the Swiss capturing the adorable feet of her child before moving the camera to scenes at the crowded Bondi beach below.
She captioned the post, "Travelling the world together."
Bondi Beach, one of the most visited tourist sites in Australia, is known as an ideal spot for sports and recreation. Bencic and her partner, fitness coach Martin Hromkovic, welcomed their first child together on April 23, 2024. The trio has flown to Australia for the "United Cup" tennis tournament, where the Swiss is making a much-awaited return to the sport.
Belinda Bencic has revealed how motherhood has impacted her tennis
Belinda Bencic is currently participating in the mixed-team "United Cup" tune-up event for the Australian Open, which is being held in Perth and Sydney.
The Swiss defeated Chloe Paquet 6-3, 6-1 for her first tour-level victory since giving birth in their opening tie against France. She then teamed up with Dominic Stricker for a mixed-doubles win to seal the tie for her country.
After her match, Bencic asserted that her life had changed "for the better" since she gave birth to Bella.
She said, "I have huge respect to all the moms. What women go through, the body change is amazing. We couldn’t be happier at the moment. We’re parents now. Our lives have changed, but definitely for the better. We’re super excited with Bella. She’s here. We survived the flight to Australia.”
After her maternity break, Belinda Bencic pointed out that she does not feel as much pressure on the court as her family has become her priority.
"I didn’t feel so much pressure I put on myself. Before tennis was all my life. I put so much pressure. Now it’s just not the most important thing. My priority is my family. I can leave a bad day at the office, on the tennis court behind. That’s something that’s changed.”
The Swiss team lost its second match against an inspired Italian team led by WTA World No. 4 Jasmine Paolini.
