Serena Williams' ex-coach Rennae Stubbs took a jibe at New York City Mayor Eric Adams after he was indicted on five federal public corruption charges. His charges were related to bribery, wire fraud, conspiracy, and soliciting campaign contributions from foreign nationals.
Adams was recently indicted on five charges dating back to 2014 when he was Brooklyn Borough president. According to the indictment, he received luxury travel and other benefits from a Turkish official in exchange for pressuring New York City's Fire Department to open a Turkish consular building without a fire inspection.
Serena Williams' ex-coach Stubbs took a jibe at Adams after the news became public, saying New York should have chosen a woman mayor. For the unversed, Eric Adams defeated two women - Kathryn Garcia and Maya Wiley - in the 2021 Democratic primary for mayor.
"I guess NYC should have chosen a woman as the mayor after all. Just saying. Take note kids," Stubbs wrote.
Stubbs has never shied away from sharing her political thoughts on social media. Recently, she called out former US President Donald Trump for selling 'official Trump coins.'
"Hello everyone! I have something incredible to share today, as we are introducing the launch of our Official Trump Coins! The ONLY OFFICIAL coin designed by me—and proudly minted here in the U.S.A. The President Donald J. Trump First Edition Silver Medallion will be available starting Wednesday, 9/25/24, EXCLUSIVELY at https://realtrumpcoins.com. Sign up today!" the former President wrote.
Stubbs called him a 'scam artist' and asked the public to 'wake up.'
"I mean this guy is the epitome of a scam artist! Americans, this IS NOT A PRESIDENT! ffs wake up!" Stubbs wrote.
Serena Williams ex-coach Rennae Stubbs bemoans lack of female coaches in tennis
Serena Williams' ex-coach Rennae Stubbs revealed in an interview in 2023 with 'The Courier Mail' that she did not get any offers to coach after working with the American legend at the last tournament, the 2022 US Open.
“But after the US was done and everybody knew that Serena was retiring, there has not been one phone call made to me or an approach from an agent to me if I would work with one of their players," Stubbs said.
Stubbs stated there was no difference between a woman coaching a male player and a man coaching a female player.
“To me, there is no difference between a woman coaching a male than coaching a female because men are coaching women, so what’s the difference? I think that women coaches are fantastic and I think they understand other women tennis players clearly better than the men,” she said.
Rennae Stubbs currently hosts 'The Rennae Stubbs Tennis Podcast' and is an analyst for ESPN.
