Nick Kyrgios wasn't impressed with Zizou Bergs' inspired celebration after securing a spot inside the ATP's Top 100 with a second-round win at the 2024 French Open. Bergs defeated Germany's Maximilian Marterer on Thursday, May 30, to qualify for the third round.

Bergs began his French Open journey as a qualifier and moved up to the main draw with success against the likes of Clement Chidekh, Joris de Loore, and Mathias Bourgue in the qualifying rounds.

Bergs kicked off his main draw journey by thumping 2024 Italian Open semifinalist and 24th seed Alejandro Tabilo 3-6, 7-6(5), 6-2, 6-2. He then bettered Maximilian Marterer 3-6, 6-3, 6-1, 6-3 in the second round on Court 5 at Stade Roland Garros. He did it on the back six break points, a staggering 55 winners, and eight aces.

The Belgian's effort secured him a place in the Top 100 of the ATP rankings for the first time in his career. Per the live standings, he sits in the 80th spot with 688 points. He has the opportunity to climb further up the standings as long as he remains afloat in the competition.

Bergs' previous best ranking on the ATP tour was World No. 102. Even though his progress in the standings will be reflected once the French Open concludes on Sunday, June 9, he celebrated the feat on Thursday, May 30, after beating Marterer.

Bergs rallied the crowd at Court 5 into chanting 'Hier is da feestie', which can be translated into 'Here is the party', in response to him screaming 'Waar is da feestie?', meaning 'Where is the party?', at the top of his lungs.

Zizou Bergs' unique way of celebrating his win seemed to have irked Nick Kyrgios who took to X (formerly Twitter) and disapproved of the Belgian's show, writing:

"Lame."

Notably, Kyrgios hasn't been playing competitive tennis for more than a year. He moved away from the courts due to multiple injuries in the first half of 2023. As far as his French Open record is concerned, the Aussie hasn't played a match there since crashing out of the second round in 2017.

Zizou Bergs is set to take on 10th seed Grigor Dimitrov in the third round of the 2024 French Open. It will be Bergs' first-ever meeting on the tour with the Bulgarian.

Dimitrov has reached the third round on the back of convincing wins over Aleksander Kovacevic and Fabian Marozsan. He defeated Kovacevic 6-4, 6-3, 6-4 in the first round and Marozsan 6-0, 6-3, 6-4 in the second.

Bergs and Dimtrov's matchup is scheduled in the morning session on Day 6 i.e., Friday, May 31. The two will step on Court 14 at Roland-Garros to play for a spot in the fourth round, where their opponent will be Hubert Hurkacz or Denis Shapovalov.
