Nick Kyrgios, known for his no-holds-barred approach, responded with a sharp three-word reaction to WTA pro Sara Errani’s criticism of his comments on Jannik Sinner. The Aussie has been vocal against Sinner, who escaped suspension earlier this year despite testing positive for the banned substance Clostebol.
Errani weighed in on the matter during an appearance on the Supernova podcast. She admitted that while she doesn’t know Nick Kyrgios personally and generally likes him, his recent actions have led her to believe he might be a little too "self-centered."
"He has a very strong personality and I’ve always liked him. Watching him play is a show. Thinking about my character, I shouldn’t like him, but I like him," she said.
"Lately he’s made a few bad and unfortunate comments: in that case I didn’t like him that much. I’m not just talking about what he said about Sinner. He made some rather strong statements," she added.
The Italian continued:
"Then when you’re not around and you play less… he seemed self-centred and I didn’t like him that much."
Nick Kyrgios took to X (formerly Twitter) to respond to the former French Open finalist, writing:
"Your s**tting me," accompanied by a laughing emoji.
"If I played Jannik Sinner in Australian Open, I would turn it into an absolute riot" - Nick Kyrgios
Nick Kyrgios recently shared his thoughts on Jannik Sinner during an appearance on the Nothing Major podcast, discussing the potential of facing the Italian at the 2025 Australian Open.
Kyrgios revealed that if he were to meet Sinner in Melbourne, he already had a game plan: he would work to get the crowd riled up against the World No. 1 and potentially start a riot.
“Let’s be honest, I just want to go out there and I really want to play Sinner,” he said.
“I thought about this (the game plan). If I played him in the Australian Open, I would just get every single person in the crowd to get on him. I would just turn it into an absolute riot. All respect would go out the window and I would just do anything to win," he added.
The Aussie continued:
“I feel like why we love sport is because you have to have contrast in personalities. If I draw Sinner in the Australian Open third round, everyone will watch because it’s contrasting personalities. We don’t like each other, and I think it’s healthy in sport."
