Nick Kyrgios and Jannik Sinner have been the center of an internet feud as the former has taken multiple swipes at the Italian for failing two drug tests. Most recently, a fan shared an AI edit of the two tennis stars posing together in Christmas outfits, leading the Australian to take another dig at the World No. 1.

In August 2024, the ITIA announced that Sinner had failed two doping tests earlier in the year, but had been cleared of any wrongdoing. According to reports, the 23-year-old tested positive for clostebol twice during March, but he wasn't handed a suspension. The player’s lawyers successfully argued that he had been inadvertently contaminated by his physiotherapist.

Nick Kyrgios has since then taken multiple shots at the World No. 1 and has made his dissatisfaction with the ITIA clear as well. When an Instagram fan account shared an AI-generated image of the Australian posing with Sinner in matching Christmas outfits, Kyrgios re-shared the image to his story and wrote:

Over the past few months, Nick Kyrgios has been vocal about his disapproval of the Jannik Sinner doping saga and has made his feelings on the matter clear a handful of times.

Earlier this month, the Australian shared with fans that he has returned to training in anticipation of his comeback to the court next year while taking a subtle dig at Sinner. Taking to X, Kyrgios wrote:

“Feels good getting these consecutive days training in the bank man. Wrist reconstruction and back out here, blessed. Without failing any drug tests 🙂‍↕️🙏🏽 Be proud kygs doing it the right way 😩😂.”

Prior to this, Kyrgios had given his honest opinion on Jannik Sinner talking about the difficult times he went through when news of his failed dope test was publicized.

Speaking to Esquire Magazine, Sinner said:

“It was a tough time. I couldn’t talk to anyone about it. I couldn’t vent or get help. All the people who knew me and watched me play understood that there was something wrong with me. I had sleepless nights, because even if you are certain of your innocence, you know that these things are complex.”

Reacting to this, Kyrgios responded on X:

“Yes. You tested for steroids. Very hard to talk to other people who aren’t.”

On the tennis court, Nick Kyrgios has been struggling with injuries since 2022 and hasn't played a competitive tournament in more than a year. The Australian is scheduled to make his long-awaited return to the court at the Brisbane International next year and is also slated to compete in the Australian Open.
