Nick Kyrgios is speculated to have changed his team again at the 2024 World Tennis League. His latest reported change comes after his comments on Iga Swiatek's doping ban.

On November 27, the World Tennis League announced that Kyrgios, who was initially in Team Kites, would swap with Casper Ruud and join Team Eagles. At the time, Kites consisted of Paula Badosa, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Jasmine Paolini, and Ruud. The Eagles consisted of Iga Swiatek, Hubert Hurkacz, Barbora Krejcikova, and Kyrgios.

On November 28, Swiatek's failed doping tests from August were made public. The Pole had tested positive for trimetazidine (TMZ), an illegal substance. She was hit with a provisional suspension in September and recently accepted a one-month ban.

Reacting to the incident, Kyrgios made several controversial comments. He wrote on X:

"Our sport is cooked"

He also said that Swiatek was making an "excuse" when she addressed the situation and stated that the contamination was unintentional.

"The excuse that we can all use is that we didn’t know. Simply didn’t know. Professionals at the highest level of sport can now just say “we didn’t know,”" Nick Kyrgios commented.

Following these comments, it is speculated that the Aussie has switched teams again. According to the visuals on the official website of the World Tennis League, Kyrgios is now a member of Team Kites along with Paolini, Krejcikova, and Ruud.

Meanwhile, Team Eagles will feature tennis couple Badosa and Tsitsipas along with Swiatek and Hurkacz. Notably, no official announcement was made about this change.

Two other teams are participating in the exciting exhibition event that is to be held in Abu Dhabi from December 19-22. Team Falcons will feature Daniil Medvedev, Elena Rybakina, Caroline Garcia, and Andrey Rublev. Team Hawks boast of Aryna Sabalenka, Mirra Andreeva, Sumit Nagal, and Taylor Fritz.

One fan took to X and called it "wild" that two World No. 1s, Iga Swiatek (World No. 1 when she tested positive in August) and Jannik Sinner both tested positive for illegal substances in the same year. Nick Kyrgios shared the comment and wrote:

"OUR SPORT IS COOKED"

One X account criticized the Aussie and referenced his absence from on-court action:

“‘Our’ sport mf you don’t even play," the user wrote.

Kyrgios responded to the X account:

"Playing the aus open? When’s the last time you played a professional tournament, god social media has given peanuts a voice… hilarious"

Following his appearance at the World Tennis League, Kyrgios will make a return to pro tennis as he is set to play at the Brisbane International. The Aussie has played just one professional match in two years and is raring to return to action.
