Nick Kyrgios recently made an honest admission about sometimes partying too hard and blacking out at parties. After a prolonged absence due to injuries on his knee, foot, and wrist, Kyrgios made his return to the court in 2025.

Kyrgios kicked off his 2025 season at the Brisbane International, where he used protected ranking to secure a spot in the main draw. However, his time in the tournament was short-lived as he was defeated by Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard 6-7(2), 7-6(4), 6-7(3) in the first round.

In addition to singles, Kyrgios also competed in the doubles event of the ATP 250 hard court tournament in Queensland alongside Novak Djokovic. The duo received a wildcard entry into the main draw and defeated the pair of Alexander Erler and Andreas Mies 6-4, 6-7(4), [10-8] in the first round.

However, Kyrgios and Djokovic's campaign ended in the next round when they fell to the top-seeded pair of Nikola Mektic and Michael Venus 2-6, 6-3, [8-10].

Nick Kyrgios will next compete at the 2025 Australian Open. Ahead of the tournament, he sat down for a fun interview on Wide World of Sports called The Hundred. There he talked about the partying culture in Australia, estimating that around 75 percent of Australians have experienced blacking out from partying too hard.

While the former World No.13 acknowledged past experiences of partying too hard and blacking out, he claimed that he has not engaged in such behavior this year.

“All right, what percent of Australians have woken up after a party not knowing where they are?” the interviewer asked.

Nick Kyrgios replied [1:54]:

“Oh, that's got to be like 75%.”

The interviewer's follow-up question was:

“Have you ever done it? This year?”

Kyrgios replied [2:20]:

“No, not this year, no. Okay, that used to happen a fair bit throughout my career.”

Nick Kyrgios will face Jacob Fearnley in the first round of the 2024 Australian Open. This will mark the first time that these two players will meet on the ATP Tour. The victor of this match will advance to face either 28th seed Sebastian Baez or Arthur Cazaux in the second round.

Fearnley kicked off his 2025 season at the Canberra Tennis International, an ATP Challenger 125 hard court tournament where he entered as the sixth seed. In the tournament, he defeated wild card Matthew Dellavedova, qualifier James Trotter, and Christopher Eubanks in the quarterfinals before falling to eventual champion Joao Fonseca in the semifinal.

Nick Kyrgios will also be participating in the doubles event alongside Thanasi Kokkinakis. The duo is scheduled to take on another Australian pair of Aleksandar Vukic and James Duckworth in the first round.
