Nick Kyrgios has once again found himself at the center of controversy, drawing heavy criticism from fans for his ongoing hostility toward Jannik Sinner. The Aussie, in an apparent dig at Sinner, called the Italian 'The Grinch' on Christmas.

The tensions between Kyrgios and Sinner stem from the latter's doping allegations, which emerged after a failed drug test earlier this year. Although the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) cleared Sinner of any wrongdoing, the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) appealed the decision, seeking a two-year ban.

Despite the unresolved case, Kyrgios has relentlessly targeted the Italian, making frequent jabs on social media. The latest incident occurred when a fan shared an AI-generated image of Kyrgios and Sinner wearing Christmas hats and smiling in a festive setting.

Kyrgios reposted the image with the caption:

"Me and the Grinch"

The response from tennis fans online toward Kyrgios's latest jab has been overwhelmingly negative. Many feel that Kyrgios’s comments have crossed the line. Several fans claimed that these antics were Kyrgios' call for attention.

"Nick is so pathetically desperate for attention, I genuinely pity the kid. Good on Jannik for ignoring the childishness, we all know it would be a complete beatdown if these two matched up on the court," one fan wrote.
"Poor low IQ boy looking desperately for attention like Big Brother celebrities 3 years after the show when no one remembers them anymore," another fan wrote.

One took aim at Kyrgios' behavior, likening it to that of a "whacky Novak Djokovic supporter" who thrives on conspiracy theories. They wrote:

"And here I thought that Nicholas was returning to the tour more mature. LOL. He’s behaving like that Whacky Nole supporter on here who loves to indulge in conspiracy theory."

One fan simply found Nick Kyrgios’ comment baffling. They wrote:

"This is just weird'

One fan suggested that these repeated jabs might signal deeper mental health issues. They wrote:

"Kyrgios is definitely unhinged at this point. Someone should check on his mental health. This is not healthy."

One fan described Nick Kyrgios’s behavior as one-sided, noting how Jannik Sinner has refrained from responding. They wrote:

"This is the most one sided beef in recorded sporting history"

Jannik Sinner recently opened up about the difficulties he faced after testing positive for Clostebol twice. Speaking to Esquire Magazine, he said:

"It was a tough time. I couldn’t talk to anyone about it. I couldn’t vent or get help. All the people who knew me and watched me play understood that there was something wrong with me. I had sleepless nights, because even if you are certain of your innocence, you know that these things are complex."

An X account posted quotes from Sinner's interview and Kyrgios reacted to them by adding:

"Yes. You tested for steroids. Very hard to talk to other people who aren’t."

In tennis terms, Nick Kyrgios is set to return to action after playing only one professional match in over two years. The Aussie will make his comeback at the Brisbane International. Meanwhile, Sinner is expected to skip preparatory tournaments ahead of the 2025 Australian Open.
