Nick Kyrgios agreed with John Isner and Sam Querrey as the American duo called out their compatriot Jack Sock for taking jibes and shots at the opponents and putting his partner in an uncomfortable situation during doubles. The three Americans, joined by Steve Johnson, discussed the issue in a recent episode of their podcast 'Nothing Major'.
The title 'Nothing Major' is a play on the careers of the four Americans, who despite their successful run, never managed to clinch a singles Grand Slam.
In a recent episode, Sam Querrey was joking about an instance where he needed some motivation to be fired up at 3 am for a match that didn't mean much. The conversation then shifted to Isner calling out Jack Sock for making things awkward for his partner during doubles by trying to rile himself up, a point which Querrey seconded.
"So you always made it awkward for your partner dude," Isner said.
"Yeah I know," Querrey agreed.
"Like you'd get in these little quarrels with the opponents," Isner continued.
Sock then questioned Querrey if things became awkward for him as well whenever they teamed up to which he said that though he didn't feel awkward, he understood where John Isner was coming from. He explained how Sock would take shots at his opponents and try to create an altercation.
"No, but I know what John's talking about. You'd maybe just take a short forehand at someone's head and then like get in an altercation and then like…As your partner you'd have to back you up as if you did the right thing," Querrey said.
Jack Sock eventually agreed and said that he riled himself up to create motivation.
"Yeah, sometimes you had to make up some motivation. You do something that…"
Nick Kyrgios took to Instagram to share the clip on his story and agreed with Isner and Sock's argument.
"This couldn't be more true 🤣," Kyrgios agreed.
"It was against the world" - Nick Kyrgios reiterated his thoughts on teaming up with Jack Sock
Nick Kyrgios also commented under Nothing Major's Instagram reel and said how John Isner and Sam Querrey's argument was true. He also mentioned that playing with Sock felt like they were playing against the world.
"This is completely true. Everytime I played with sock, it was us against the world hahahaha," Kyrgios commented.
Querrey also joked about how Sock's partners were measly soldiers whereas he was their king. Meanwhile, Sock commented how he was just doing what he could to get the best results.
Jack Sock and Kyrgios have teamed up on many occasions throughout their careers and have also won the Citi Open in 2022.
