Carlos Alcaraz has been named one of the brightest prospects in the sporting world and is pegged to become an all-time great by the reputed American news outlet Bleacher Report. The news organization's list titled 'The 25 Best Athletes of the Next 25 Years' did not feature other young stars of the tennis world like Jannik Sinner and Coco Gauff.
Bleacher Report recently released predictions for the 25 athletes who would dominate their sport and become global superstars. Many young players from basketball, hockey, football, soccer and baseball made the list. Interestingly, only one tennis player was featured on the list.
Carlos Alcaraz was placed 11th on the list. Bleacher Report noted that the Spaniard was the youngest player ever to compete in a Grand Slam main draw when he debuted at the 2021 Australian Open at 17.
In his young career, Alcaraz has won four Grand Slam titles and already reached the World No. 1 ranking. Bleacher Report expects to see more great things from the current World No. 3 in the years to come.
The '25 Best Athletes of the Next 25 Years' list was topped by NBA player Victor Wembanyama, followed by WNBA player Caitlin Clark and NHL player Connor Bedard. NBA's Anthony Edwards and NCAA Basketball's Cooper Flagg rounded out the top 5.
Jannik Sinner and Coco Gauff were among the biggest young players left off the list despite their staggering career achievements. Sinner, 23, just wrapped up one of the most dominant seasons of any player in ATP history after winning eight titles (including two Grand Slams), the Davis Cup, and reigning as World No. 1.
Meanwhile, Gauff, 20, also performed well on the 2024 WTA Tour, winning three titles. The former US Open champion won her maiden WTA Finals in 2024 and emerged victorious at the WTA 1000 China Open, finishing the year as World No. 3.
