Netflix has announced that its tennis docuseries, Break Point, has been renewed for a second season. The docuseries is a collaboration between Netflix, the ATP, and the WTA. It follows selected players from the men’s and women’s tours, highlighting their highs and lows for the 2022 season.
The first part of the tennis docuseries premiered on January 13, 2023, with five episodes. It focused on the Australian Open, the Indian Wells Masters, the Madrid Open, and the French Open.
The second part will focus on Wimbledon, Eastbourne International, Queen's Club, the U.S. Open, the WTA Finals, and the ATP Finals. It will consist of five more episodes and will be released in June 2023.
"Break Point" was renewed for a second season by Netflix. The announcement was made by Netflix, ATP, WTA, and all major tournaments' social media pages.
The Roland Garros page tweeted:
“Break Point is renewed for Season 2! @netflix”
Tennis fans reacted to the announcement by saying, "Nobody asked for it," indicating their discontent with what they saw in the first five episodes.
Some were even confused as to how Netflix could renew the series when part two hasn’t even been released yet.
Another tennis fan commented that they hadn’t watched it yet as the reviews are "s**t", whereas one said they wouldn’t tune in to the second season.
Most people were unhappy and said they gave up watching the docuseries after the first episode. Here are more reactions from tennis fans to the announcement.

The docuseries "Break Point" by Netflix was received poorly by global audiences upon its release in January 2023. The show, created by the makers of Netflix’s "Drive to Survive", a show about Formula 1, had hoped to increase the global viewership of the sport.
However, fans did not receive it well and considered it too slow or boring. The docuseries failed to break into Netflix’s top 10 in the first week after its release.
The show was also criticized for focusing solely on new stars such as Taylor Fritz, Maria Sakkari, Paula Badosa, and Matteo Berrettini. It failed to include legends and fan favorites like Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, and Roger Federer.
A leading tennis journalist said the show made a "minimal splash" on Netflix. He had tweeted:
“Had been keeping an eye on this. It made a pretty minimal splash on Netflix, by context of that overall platform. Does this affect a potential Season 2? TBD"
However, Netflix has considered the docuseries a success and renewed it for a second season even before part two is out. Part two of season one will premiere in June 2023.
