Serena Williams' husband was delighted to see the Washington Commanders' last-second triumph over the Chicago Bears in Sunday's thriller. In the remaining 25 seconds, courtesy of Jayden Daniels' long-distance throw to Noah Brown, the Commanders stood triumphant.
Daniels was surrounded by defenders for nearly 13 seconds when he launched a pass from the 35-yard line. The 52-yard Hail Mary slipped through Commanders' Zach Ertz’s hands and landed in the arms of his teammate Noah Brown, who stood alone in the end zone. Subsequently, the touchdown secured an 18-15 victory for the Commanders on Sunday, sending players, fans, and especially Alexis Ohanian into an uproar.
Ohanian, who streamed the game live, shared his reaction to Jayden Daniels' miraculous effort on X (formerly Twitter).
"Boom! Not over until it is over, not over until it is over. Jayden Daniels!"
Ohanian is a tech entrepreneur who owns a venture capital firm called Seven Seven Six. Alongside his business endeavors, he has also shown interest in sports, recently investing in and hosting Athlos NYC, an all-women’s track and field event through Seven Seven Six.
The 41-year-old is also a major shareholder and investor in Los Angeles-based Angel City Football Club, co-owned by Serena Williams and Billie Jean King.
Serena Williams' husband Alexis Ohanian is also an ardent supporter of women's sports
Apart from his love for men's sports, Serena Williams' husband Alexis Ohanian has also taken a strong stand for women's sports. The Reddit co-founder recently shared how the New York City crowd celebrated the Liberty's first WNBA triumph, emphasizing the growing popularity of women’s sports.
During the Athlos NYC pre-race show, Ohanian noted that while women's tennis enjoys popularity comparable to men's, he recognized disparities in other sports, which prompted him to create a better platform to support the cause (54:10 onwards).
“What was so compelling was women's tennis was so exhilarating, so exciting, not just because I'm married to the GOAT (Serena Williams), but because it was actually just an amazing sport. You don't think twice. Of course, women's tennis is just popular in America as men's. But then I saw these disparities in things like women's soccer, where the women suddenly disappeared outside of the World Cup, but I still knew their names,” he said (via Citius Marg).
Similar to Ohanian, Serena Williams has been a strong advocate for women's sports.
