Alexander Zverev's girlfriend, Sophia Thomalla, was amused after being served coffee featuring the German's face made with latte art at the Vienna Open. The couple has been dating since 2020 and the actress is often seen supporting Zverev from the stands during his matches.
Thomalla is currently in Vienna to support her boyfriend Zverev as he competes at the Vienna Open. The World No. 3 began his campaign on Monday by defeating home favorite Joel Schwaerzler in the first round, followed by a victory over Marcos Giron in the second round, setting up a quarterfinal clash with Lorenzo Musetti.
On Friday, Thomalla shared a picture of her coffee that featured latte art of Zverev's face. The designs are primarily created by pouring steamed milk into espresso to form patterns. The 35-year-old, impressed by the gesture, stated in the caption that she has nothing to complain about. She wrote on Instagram:
“When you’re served a coffee like this, you know you’ve got absolutely nothing left to complain about.” (translated from German)
Zverev is aiming to win the Vienna Open title for the second time, having previously clinched it in 2021 when he defeated Frances Tiafoe in the final. This season, he holds a win-loss record of 59-19 and has won one trophy, the Italian Open.
Alexander Zverev on his relationship with Sophia Thomalla - “I think it's always very important for tennis players who you have next to you”
While speaking about his relationship with Thomalla during an interview with Tennis MAGAZIN in 2021, Zverev explained the importance of having a supportive partner in tennis. He said:
"I think it's always very important for tennis players who you have next to you. Sophia is someone who gives me peace and security. But ultimately I'm the deciding factor. Over the last 20 years I've put a lot of work into my tennis, especially with my father. I've done everything to get to where I am now."
"But of course, you can see that for the first time I have a partner who accompanies me. I play extremely well with her behind me and I hope that will continue to be the case next year and maybe even get better. I haven't achieved all of my goals yet," Zverev added. (translated from German)
Currently ranked No. 3 on the ATP Tour and already qualified for the ATP Finals, Zverev's 2024 season has been remarkable. He kicked off his season at the Australian Open where he reached the semifinals, just as he did in 2020, before being knocked out by Daniil Medvedev in a five-set battle.
At the French Open, Zverev made an impressive run to the final, defeating 14-time champion Rafael Nadal in the first round and the likes of David Goffin, Tallon Griekspoor, Holger Rune, Alex de Minaur, and Casper Ruud before losing to Carlos Alcaraz in the final. At Wimbledon, he reached the fourth round, and at the US Open, he was knocked out in the quarterfinals by Taylor Fritz.
